Our A.O. Wagner Construction team continues its multi-phase interior remodel of McLeod Hall at First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven. Work began in mid-February and is set to be completed by the end of June.
Previously, we described the remodel beginning with demolition, new flooring, partition walls, painting, and a bathroom. Since then, we’ve made significant progress on phase one, and here is our latest update.
Ceiling Demolition and Utility Upgrades
These steps allowed for key upgrades, including structural bracing for decorative beams, new electrical for lighting, and HVAC ductwork overhead. A 1-1/2” water line was installed to boost restroom capacity. Removing the closet increased the Fellowship Hall’s floor space for more room and additional seating.

North and South Wall Framing
Framing was completed along the North and South walls to conceal new utility lines, water supply, electrical conduits, and HVAC piping for the new mini-split system installations. When finished, the new walls will improve the interior’s appearance.

Rear Fellowship Hall Reconfiguration
As part of the revised layout, walls were selectively removed at the rear of the Fellowship Hall. A new meeting room and kitchen pantry only needed minimal framing to preserve usable space. The ADA restroom was framed and plumbed, and pantry access is limited to the kitchen and meeting room areas.

HVAC Structural Modifications and Restroom Overhaul
To integrate the new HVAC system, several openings were cut into structural concrete walls for ductwork. Additional holes were drilled for electrical and plumbing routing. The men’s restroom is getting fully restored, with all the old fixtures and finishes removed. Once completed, the bathroom will match the design and finish of the new ADA restroom, creating a modern look.

Looking Ahead
We will focus on the existing women’s restroom when phase one finishes. At the same time, enhancements to the Fellowship Hall will include wood ceiling beams, column wraps, modern lighting, tile, and upgraded flooring, each designed for both comfort and beauty in a revitalized gathering space.
