Our A.O. Wagner Construction team started an interior remodeling project at First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, FL. Inside McLeod Hall, this four-phase project began with demolition in mid-February and is expected to be fully remodeled in June.
Open Storage Space Conversion

Inside McLeod Hall there is an open storage space. We’ve started converting it into a meeting room, a kitchen pantry, and a bathroom which will be ADA-compliant. Here’s what we’ve done since the demolition:
- Installed a new wooden column to replace a rotted one.
- Removed an existing header to accommodate the new layout.
- Started preparing the walls for electrical work and drywall installation.
South and North Side Fellowship Hall Upgrades

South Side: We removed an existing header that previously supported an operable partition. The new framing will support updated electrical installations and new drywall.

North Side: We removed outdated shelving to build a new wall that houses electrical components and conceals existing water piping.
Bathroom Construction and Mechanical Closet Framing

The bathroom framing and work on connecting the underground plumbing to the existing sanitary system have begun. We have stubbed out the supply and drainage lines, and our next step is installing a porcelain floor, wall tiles, and a new acoustical ceiling.
We have framed in a new mechanical closet in the pantry area next to the existing kitchen. This upgrade will house essential systems while keeping them concealed. After that, we will install drywall and a new door before finishing with carpet flooring and an acoustical ceiling.
Bathroom Renovations and Structural Reinforcements

There were wooden partitions, the double vanity, and old fixtures inside the bathroom we removed. Our next steps will involve preparing the walls for electrical work, installing blocking and bracing for new bathroom accessories, and finishing with updated fixtures.
Additionally, a rotted wooden column has been replaced to reinforce structural stability. The next step will be furring the surrounding walls to accommodate electrical wiring.
Stay tuned for the next installment of the McLeod Hall interior remodeling update!
