Three-Phase Project Gets Underway at Auburndale’s Florida Brewery

A.O. Wagner Construction is helping Florida Brewery in Auburndale during its rebranding process. The work officially began this month for our A.O. Wagner construction team. In the next year, the project will proceed in three phases. In this phase, we are demolishing the existing loading dock and erecting a new pre-engineered metal building (supplied by Nucor Building Systems) that will include a two-story office and will double the size of their current production footprint.

Containment and Partitioning for Ongoing Operations

Before demolition, we installed a temporary wall barrier. It was between the active production area and the construction zone. That partition protects operations from dust, noise, and debris, which is crucial in a brewery environment. Once secured, we moved to install metal framing and sheeting on the new partition wall and completed the barrier to maintain uninterrupted production while preparing the site.

New Slab for Critical Equipment

Inside the new structure boundary, we cast a dedicated concrete slab designed to support heavy filtering equipment. The slab size is 21′ × 13′ and has an 18-inch depth. Proper reinforcement, joint layout, and curing protocols were used to ensure crack control and a durable foundation for mechanical systems.

Integrating the Building for Brewery Use

The brewery produces humidity, occasional washdowns, and thermal swings, so walls, floors, and partitions must resist condensation and corrosion. In designing this facility, particular attention is being paid to moisture control, thermal management, and structural durability. The temporary wall and new slab help isolate the construction zone and prevent cross-contamination.

What Comes Next

With Phase 1 in motion, the next step will include demolition of the old loading dock, full erection of the metal building frame, wall cladding, interior utility rough-ins, and integration of the new office area.

Since the brewery remains operational, sequencing is critical to each step. We do this to minimize disruption to daily production while building toward the expanded facility. Once complete, this new building not only will accommodate Florida Brewery’s rebranding process but also will serve as proof of innovative, resilient design in a demanding environment.
