Columns are up, purlins are in place, and the shape of CWI’s new home is finally visible at 4650 Exploration Ave. in Lakeland. After breaking ground on this ground-up build and pouring a 200-yard concrete slab earlier this summer, our in-house metal erection crew has moved into the steel framing phase for the new 120′ x 50′ pre-engineered metal building.
Raising the Frame
The building arrived from Whirlwind Steel on July 24, and our crew has been steadily assembling it since. Columns, eave struts, wall purlins, and roof purlins are all erected, along with the bracing straps that tie the structure together.
Openings for the storefront doors, windows, and overhead doors have also been framed out, giving a clear preview of how the finished facility will operate.

That consistency is evident in the details, from the framed entrance inset at the front of the building to the base trim currently being installed along the perimeter.

What’s Next?
With the structure expected to be fully assembled within the coming week, the next step is installing the insulation and wall sheets. Once the building shell is complete, our team will shift focus to the interior build-out.
