We are stepping into Phase III of the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven renovation, and this phase brings some of the most visually striking work of the entire project. Phase I tackled the interior fellowship spaces like the Fellowship Hall and Meeting Room and Phase II transformed the exterior and soup kitchen. Now, Phase III turns attention to the second floor and a first-floor chapel renovation that includes new ceilings, fresh paint, carpet replacement, and the careful relocation of three large stained-glass windows.
This phase began May 4 with a projected completion in August. The scope covers the second-floor narthex, library, Edinburgh Room, and sanctuary, as well as the first-floor chapel.
Relocating the Stained Glass Windows
The centerpiece of Phase III is the relocation of three large stained-glass windows from the upstairs sanctuary into the first-floor chapel. Each window required cutting a dedicated opening into the chapel walls, framing the opening to receive the glass, and installing LED light fixtures behind each panel to backlight the artwork from within.

Once all three windows are set, the openings will be trimmed and painted to match the existing finishes. In the sanctuary, the wall where the windows currently sit will be removed entirely, opening up the entrance to that space.

Ceiling and Finish Work in Progress
Several rooms are already showing significant progress. The Edinburgh Room on the second floor has received a new acoustical ceiling system, updated LED lighting, and fresh paint. The library on the same floor has been finished the same way. Both rooms are ready and waiting for carpet removal and new flooring installation.

In the narthex (the area leading to the sanctuary), the old ceiling grid system has been demolished. New acoustical ceilings and carpet will go in once the adjacent wall demo is complete and the space is ready for finish work.

Work is also underway in the elevator/stair tower, where a new acoustical ceiling grid is being installed throughout. This same ceiling system is being applied across all spaces within Phase III.
