PEMB Foundation Work Underway for Lake Hamilton’s CenState Facility

CenState Contractors, a seasoned general contractor in Winter Haven since 1985, has partnered with our A.O. Wagner Construction team. The project involves us delivering a key expansion for the City of Lake Hamilton’s wastewater treatment infrastructure. Today, we are highlighting the foundation work underway for a new 40 ft x 80 ft pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with a 16-foot eave height that is built for durability and precision.

Precision Slab Setup, Pour, and Anchoring

The foundation was constructed, and the rebar was installed. We also set up the underground plumbing and electrical systems beforehand. Soon after, crews started pouring concrete over the slab area. It is important to note that pouring concrete over a large area in the dark just before dawn helps control the curing process. Next, the embedded anchor bolts were placed within the slab to support the new building frame.

Curing the Concrete for Moisture Removal

Once the entire foundation is poured, the next step is screeding the concrete to produce a smooth, level, and even surface on the wet concrete. As it starts to dry and set, power trowels are used on the slab to draw moisture from the surface and speed up the curing process. After drying, we cut control joints to guide curing and prevent cracking.

Laying the Ground for Future Functionality

Using a Butler Manufacturing™ PEMB, renowned for over a century of innovation, ensures this facility will meet current engineering standards and stay adaptable for the future. In the coming weeks, interior buildout will begin, including framing, drywall, polished concrete floors, cabinetry, doors, and comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, transforming this foundation into a fully operational asset.

Timeline in Motion

Beginning in early August, the project is scheduled to finish by mid-October. From concrete slabs to polished interiors, each phase emphasizes durability, moisture control, and building science by ensuring a foundation that is not just poured but properly designed. Stay tuned as CenState’s new facility begins to progress.
