PEMB Canopy Expansion Complete at UFP in Orlando

Our A.O. Wagner team is eager to share the recent milestones we’ve reached at Universal Forest Products. The client, headquartered in Orlando, is a major supplier of wood products used in global infrastructure.

In August, we guided you through our detailed process of preparing and pouring column footings, leveling piers, rebar matting, and anchor bolt systems, and getting ready for the upcoming structures. Now, there’s even more to update you on regarding the project’s completion.

Both PEMB Assemblies Are Built

The two 40 foot × 120 foot Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings are now finished and ready for use. The second PEMB closely matches its storage system counterpart. Each has four 30-foot bays and an open front for forklift access. The structures support high-density wood storage and will be filled from floor to ceiling. Concrete pillars surround the columns to protect against potential impacts from equipment like forklifts or truck deliveries.

Optimal Function and Weather-Resistance

Walking around to the back, the finished metal panels, gutters, and downspouts show how we wanted a clean structural appearance along with weather resistance. This combination ensures effective rainwater management while reducing long-term maintenance, especially during Florida’s heavy rainy seasons.

Designing the Storage System Structures

When designing the structures, our team had to consider both the facility’s current needs and how the storage system would support ongoing activities. By factoring in the entire height needed, these structures are designed to maximize storage capacity for immediate use. In the most recent photo taken, we saw the client’s wood bundles being loaded into one of the canopies, showing they are fully utilizing the new structures.

New Structures Support Ongoing Demand

The transformation has shifted from empty slabs to fully built, functional canopy structures that are durable, efficient, and client-centered. This two-structure expansion demonstrates how our client required durable material use, structural integrity, and operational readiness.

The PEMBs, supplied by Butler Manufacturing through Whirlwind Steel Buildings, each combine proven manufacturing reliability with practical facility design. These structures assist UFP in its continued mission to build sustainable infrastructure that supports communities and industries.
