Growth is always an exciting sign for local businesses, and when B.L. Smith Electric needed a new facility to support their operations in Lake Hamilton, they turned to A.O. Wagner Construction to bring their vision to life. We’re proud to announce the construction of their new 40’ x 100’ facility, a project that highlights the efficiency and durability of modern construction methods.
This ground-up project centers on a high-quality pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) manufactured by Butler Manufacturing. We always look forward to working with Butler on our projects because these structures are designed for long-term performance, energy-efficiency, and low maintenance, all of which are essential qualities for a busy electrical company.
Breaking Ground: Our Timeline
Like any solid structure, success begins below the ground. This project kicked off on January 26, 2026, with site preparation, which included installation of wire mesh, visqueen, and anchor bolts.
Once the site was prepared and ready for the heavy lifting, we partnered with J&G Concrete and Layout for the professional layout services and the installation of custom concrete foundations. They used the boom pump truck to pour the concrete slab and apron.
Once the foundation was poured and finished, the project moved vertically. The steel erection phase is always the most visually dramatic part of these processes!
Our crews began standing the main PEMB columns, creating the skeleton of the new facility.
Following the columns, we installed the wall and roof purlins, securing the primary and secondary framing that gives the building its structural integrity.
Currently, the project is taking its final shape. We’re installing the wall sheeting and securing the screw-down Galvalume roof. This roofing system is tough and corrosion-resistant, perfect for the Florida climate.
The Next Steps
We’re on track to deliver the completed facility by March 31, 2026, delivering precision craftsmanship from the initial site work to the final screw.
