Something new is taking shape at 4650 Exploration Avenue in Winter Haven. The A.O. Wagner Construction team broke ground May 1 on a complete ground-up build for CWI Industrial Services, and the early site work is already well underway.
CWI Industrial Services proudly serves Central Florida and the Southeast region, specializing in turnkey industrial solutions including equipment installation and relocation, process piping, industrial welding, structural steel installation, custom fabrication, and project management for a wide range of industrial facilities. This new building will give their team a dedicated, purpose-built home base.
What’s Being Built
The new facility is a custom Whirlwind Steel Buildings 120′ x 50′ pre-engineered metal building featuring office space and a storefront at the front of the building and a storage warehouse at the rear. Whirlwind Steel has been fabricating world-class custom metal buildings since 1955, and this structure will be built to the same standard of quality that defines every project we take on.
Starting From Scratch
Before any steel goes up, the site must be prepared. The photos below show what the lot at 4650 Exploration Avenue looked like before work began. This undeveloped parcel was ready to be transformed.
With the site cleared, earth moving and grading got underway to prepare the ground for underground drainage installation and the new building pad.
Site Work in Progress
The construction entrance off Exploration Avenue is established and active, with equipment and crews on site daily. Underground drainage work is underway, including the installation of precast concrete stormwater catch basins that will form part of the site’s storm system.
Along the perimeter, a new CMU retaining wall is being constructed to address the elevation change on the property. This wall is engineered to hold back soil and prevent it from sliding, eroding, or collapsing as the grade transitions across the site
With site work in full swing, the underground drainage and building pad are the immediate priorities before steel erection begins. We will keep you posted as construction advances. There is a lot more to come on this project between now and the September 30 completion date!
