When Chemical Containers, Inc., in Lake Wales needed a critical structural repair, they knew they needed a team that could get the job done efficiently without shutting down their entire operations.
The project involved replacing corroded eave strut framing at the edge of their pre-engineered metal building’s roof. This is the kind of job that, if not handled correctly, could cause major headaches for a busy company, so we got to work fast.
Efficient Repairs for Critical Structural Issues
Our team zeroed in on the problem and began repairs right away. First, we carefully removed the existing gutters, downspouts, and wall sheets to access the damaged framing. The main task here was to replace eight 25-foot sections of corroded eave struts.
Next, we installed brand-new, durable galvanized pieces to protect the building’s structural integrity for years to come. You can see the new silver framing member clearly installed at the top of the building, just under the roof sheets, in our project photos.
Upgrading Insulation and Restoring the Exterior
With the new eave struts in place, the next step was to upgrade the building’s efficiency. We installed new vinyl-backed wall insulation before re-installing the original wall sheets. This not only restores the building’s exterior but also improves its thermal performance.
We secured the wall sheets with new ZAC long-life screws for a lasting, weather-tight seal.
The final step was to re-install the gutters and downspouts, completing the building’s exterior restoration.
When we think about this project and what we were most proud of, it was definitely our efficiency. Our crew completed the entire repair process in just eight days, and we did it all without causing any disruption to the daily activities of the Chemical Containers employees. It’s a perfect example of how planning and careful execution can solve a major structural problem without getting in the way of business.
