Over the past several months, our AO Wagner Construction team has shared the restoration and renewal project at the First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven. It all began inside McLeod Hall, then the interior and advanced remodeling came next, and last month, we broke down Phase I & Phase II of the project.
Now, with significant progress unfolding in both phases, we are eager to show you the latest updates bringing this remodel near completion. Phase I is on track to wrap up by mid-September, and Phase II is projected for completion by the end of October.
Phase I
Women’s ADA Restrooms
The entrance now features plush carpet tiles, crisp ceramic hallway flooring, and new wood baseboards. Inside, the ADA restroom has brand-new floor and wall tile, a modern ceiling grid with tiles, updated fixtures, and a fresh vanity. The remaining steps include painting, installing countertops, and fitting partitions.

Fellowship Hall
This space now has new high-traffic carpet, a matching wood base, custom-stained wood beams, a fresh ceiling grid, and updated light fixtures. Columns now have elegant wood wraps and sconce lighting, while refurbished doors and mini-split HVAC units enhance both aesthetics and comfort.

Meeting Room
Carpet, wood base, and column wraps now define this inviting space. The ceiling grid features recessed can lights and exposed spiral ductwork for the HVAC system, and the doors have been restored with new hardware that matches the staircase handrail color.

Kitchen & Hallway
New doors and trim lead into the kitchen, pantry, and men’s ADA bathroom. Inside the pantry, sleek luxury vinyl plank flooring, wood base trim, acoustical ceilings, and exposed spiral HVAC ducts await the final paint finish.

Phase II
Soup Kitchen
Structural members that were damaged have been replaced. Inside, new insulation, metal wall panels, trim, and roofing are now in place. The epoxy flooring and UFO lighting installations are complete, while exterior improvements, including storefront doors and windows, sidewalks, stucco, and metal panel siding, are still underway.

Youth Building & Facade Wall
A new galvalume standing-seam roof has been installed. Blockwork and truss structures are in place for a red-brick facade wall with integrated tubular wall sconces. Brickwork, roofing, and awning installation will follow shortly.

These updates showcase the seamless integration of form, function, and sustainability needed for this project. Sustained care in materials, energy systems, and our team’s craftsmanship continues to enhance the sanctuary’s legacy, one phase at a time.
