Barndominium Going Up in Fort Meade

There’s something exciting about a unique build! At A.O. Wagner, we work on all types of buildings here in Central Florida, and we recently started a new project for a client to help construct a barndominium in Fort Meade.

Barndominiums are converted barns or barn-shaped living spaces. The name itself is a portmanteau of barn and condominium. For this build, the client is supplying the building, while we’re taking care of the slab, interior buildout, and erection of the building. The building measures 40 feet wide by 80 feet long, with a 16-foot eave height and 800 square feet of living area.

We’re currently in the beginning phase of this project, and are currently working on the slab in collaboration with J&G Concrete as our concrete subcontractors. C&C Concrete Pumping are providing the boom pump to pour the slap, while A&L Materials are providing the concrete. Let’s take a look at how things are shaping up so far.

First, we had to stretch the boom truck out so we could start pouring the concrete.

Then we poured the concrete and formed the slab with the help of the boom truck. In addition to forming the slab, we’ve roughed in plumbing and electrical and installed the vapor barrier and wire mesh.

We’ve now poured the slab completely, and our concrete finishers used machines that pull the water out of the concrete so it will set faster.

We just started this project, and expect to finish by the end of August. Talk about a quick turnaround!
